Held on 17 March 2026 at NTU@one-north Auditorium, the Professor Chen Charng Ning Distinguished Lecture (PCCNDL) brought together nearly 200 attendees, with the valued support of its sponsors, AECOM Singapore, Hwa Seng Builder, KTC Civil Engineering & Construction, Santarli Construction, Obayashi Singapore, and Surbana Jurong Consultants.
Jointly organized by NTU School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) and NTU CEE Alumni Association (NCEEA), the event commemorates the enduring legacy of Professor Chen Charng Ning, the founding Dean of the then School of Civil & Structural Engineering (now the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering) and former Deputy President of Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The event is part of the school’s 45th anniversary celebrations.
The lecture featured distinguished speakers, including Minister for National Development, Mr Chee Hong Tat, who spoke about three key engineering challenges surrounding Singapore’s urban landscape: overcoming space constraints, improving construction efficiency, and advancing sustainable infrastructure development.

Also speaking at the event was Executive Vice President, Engineering and Development, Changi Airport Group, Mr Koh Ming Sue, who shared insights into innovative airport operations and AI-enabled tools that empower its workforce, enhance operational performance, and strengthen Changi Airport’s position among the world’s leading air hubs.

The event was opened by Professor Boh Wai Fong, Vice President (Lifelong Learning & Alumni Engagement), NTU, while Er Dr Lee Bee Wah, Former IES President and Former member of the Singapore Parliament, delivered the closing remarks.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation of scholarships and bursaries to 10 deserving engineering students, supported by the Professor Chen Charng Ning Scholarship Fund and the Professor Chen Charng Ning Bursary Fund.

This endowment fund was started by the Class of 1985 at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) in honour of the late Professor Chen Charng Ning. The Class of 1985's initiative was led by former Members of Parliament, Er Dr Lee Bee Wah and Mr Inderjit Singh Dhaliwal, who is also a member of NTU’s Board of Trustees.
These funds aim to support deserving students from underprivileged families pursuing studies in civil and environmental engineering, ensuring that Professor Chen's passion for education and engineering continues to inspire future generations.
