Integrating Atmospheric Science, Agricultural Practice, and Health Policy for Climate Resilience in Southeast Asia
The National Institute of Education (NIE), in collaboration with the Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Health (CCEH) at Nanyang Technological University, is pleased to host the NIE Tropical Weather Symposium on 27 February 2026.
This symposium brings together atmospheric scientists, environmental health researchers, agricultural experts, and policy practitioners to explore integrated approaches for strengthening climate resilience in Southeast Asia. By bridging atmospheric science, agricultural practice, and health policy, the event aims to promote cross-disciplinary dialogue and actionable insights to address climate-driven risks in the region.
The symposium will feature a keynote address by Greg McFarquhar, Director of the Cooperative Institute for Severe and High-Impact Weather Research and Operations and George Lynn Cross Research Professor at the University of Oklahoma. Professor McFarquhar is internationally recognised for his pioneering contributions to atmospheric science, cloud–aerosol interactions, and climate modelling.
Moderated by Dr. Raju Pathak, the symposium will also feature presentations from Asst. Prof. Jingyu Wang, Asst. Prof. Tao Huang, and Prof. Steve H. L. Yim, highlighting ongoing interdisciplinary research and regional perspectives on tropical weather, climate risks, and health-relevant policy pathways.
We look forward to engaging researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in this timely forum to advance collaborative solutions for a climate-resilient Southeast Asia.
