Programme Information

1. How many MSc courses are offered by EEE?

2. I am interested in the joint NTU-TUM courses and have some general enquiries. Who should I reach out to?

3. How many admission intakes are there for the MSc programmes?

For all EEE MSc Programmes, there are 2 intakes per year in January and August.

4. What are the study modes and class schedules for MSc Programmes at EEE?

EEE offers both full-time and part-time programmes (unless otherwise stated). Most classes are conducted in the evenings, while examinations are conducted during office hours.

All courses offered under the Master of Science Programmes at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) are conducted in English and held in-person on campus.

5. What are the minimum and maximum candidature for both full-time and part-time programmes?

6. I understand that the School is introducing a Collaborative Research and Development Project scheme. Can you provide more details?
From AY 2023/2024 Semester 2 onwards, the School will be introducing a new General Elective (GE) course that will be offered to all 5 EEE MSc Programmes. 

This will serve as a learning platform for students to gain practical hands-on experience in the design, implementation, prototyping and testing of electrical and electronic engineering projects or multi-disciplinary projects that involves major electrical and electronic engineering related components.

  • Team Project (Student group size of 3-5)
  • 3 AUs over 1 semester, Pass/Fail course
  • Open for MSc students who choose the course only option (i.e non dissertation)
  • Not open to research students
  • Project Time: Daytime (more suitable for full-time students)

Admission Requirements

7. What are the admission requirements for the EEE MSc programmes?

The following are minimum admission requirements. Meeting these criteria does not guarantee admission, as selection is competitive.

Applicants should have:

  • A good relevant bachelor's degree
  • Relevant working experience is an advantage
  • For applicants whose native language is not English, or if the medium of instruction in undergraduate studies is not in English, TOEFL/IELTS score is to be submitted with the application for admission.

Applicants without TOEFL/IELTS would still be eligible to apply, but they may be subjected to an interview/test if deemed necessary by the School.

8. Can I apply for part-time programme if I am an international student?

  • International students coming in on student passes can only apply strictly on a full-time basis.
  • International applicants currently working in Singapore on work permits can apply for part-time programmes.

9. What are the supporting documents that I would need to prepare and submit for my application?

You must upload electronic copies of your supporting documents to the application portal. Documents uploaded must be in English. Otherwise, they must be accompanied by certified translations in English language.

Application fee will be charged for each Coursework application. Payment can be made online before submitting application by VISA/Mastercard.

General Information on Supporting Documents

1. Passport/Identification card (NRIC)

  • Singaporean: NRIC
  • Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR): NRIC and Re-entry permit. 
  • Foreigner: Passport preferred. If not, please submit your National Identification Card first.
  • For Foreigner taking up part-time studies, please ALSO provide your valid pass in Singapore for example, Employment pass, Dependent Pass or Long-Term Visit Pass on top of your passport.
Note: We do not accept expired passports.
 

2. One recent passport-sized colour photograph

  • Image showing full face must be taken within the last 3 months.
  • Photograph must be in colour and taken against a white background.

3. Valid TOEFL/IELTS Scores

  • Students are required to submit the valid certificate, emails confirming the scores are not accepted.
  • If you are submitting letter for medium of instructions as English from your universities, please ensure that all modules (not just core or foundation modules) are taught and assessed in English.
  • Please get the letters from both your universities if your programme is a joint-universities programme.

4. Degree Certification and Official Transcripts 

4.1. Degree Certificate
  • Original Language for example in Chinese language medium for China University
  • Official translation in English (if original is not in English)
4.2. Official Transcripts
  • Original Language for example in Chinese language medium for China University ’s Degree
  • Official translation in English (if original is not in English)
  • Grading or marking scale of the Transcript (Interpretation of Grades/Marks)
4.3. For Joint-Universities programmes
  • Please provide documents from both university for item 4.1 to 4.2.

Note: Translation can be done by the Home University or any official authorized parties.


Note on Official Transcripts:
A copy of official transcript with detailed academic results (marks obtained in each subject, not just grades obtained, wherever possible) is required from each university attended. 

It should show the university name with the official stamp, or it should be certified and translated by the university. 

If the transcript is in a language other than English, please provide an official English translation as well and the subjects in the translation should be listed in the same order as that of the original transcript (label the transcript if need be).

The applicant is responsible for requesting transcripts from his/her university or universities.


Notes on Application:
Complete set of supporting documents (must be legible) must be uploaded via the application portal. Do not send paper copies. Late submission will not be accepted. 

The school may contact applicants for additional information or documents later (if required).

10. What are the TOFEL/IELTS requirements for my application submission?

For applicants whose native language is not English, TOEFL/IELTS score is to be submitted with the application for admission:

TOEFL Score (Test dates must be within 2 years or less from the date of application):

  • ≥ 563 (paper-based)
  • ≥ 223 (computer-based)
  • ≥ 85 (internet-based, for exams taken before January 21, 2026)
  • ≥ 4.5 (internet-based, for exams taken on or after January 21, 2026)

IELTS Score (Test date must be within 2 years or less from the date of application):

  • ≥ 6.0
Applicants who do not meet the TOEFL/IELTS score requirements may still be considered, but they may be subjected to an interview or test at the discretion of EEE if deemed necessary.
