The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) was established in 1981 as one of the three pioneering engineering schools of Nanyang Technological University, then known as Nanyang Technological Institute. The School welcomed its first cohort of 194 students and 18 faculty members in 1982, laying the foundation for a vibrant community committed to excellence in engineering education, research, and innovation.
Originally known as the School of Civil and Structural Engineering, the School was renamed in 2002 to reflect its growing strengths and contributions in environmental engineering. In 2004, CEE expanded its academic offerings with the introduction of the Maritime Studies programme, underscoring the School’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of industry and society.
