    The Bachelor of Engineering (Materials Engineering) with a Second Major in Medical Biology integrates the requirements of both disciplines, offering a unique blend of engineering rigour and biological science such as cell biology and genetics.


    Designed for students passionate about biomaterials, biomedical devices and biotech, the programme builds strong foundations in materials engineering while providing in-depth training in medical biology, with emphasis on core biological principles.

    Admission Requirements

    Admission requirements for this programme, including minimum subject requirements for students with A-level, IB, international and other qualifications, as well as acceptable polytechnic diplomas are available in the NTU Undergraduate Admissions website.

    Programme Structure & Duration

    The structure of the Bachelor Engineering (Materials Engineering) with a Second Major in Medical Biology programme integrates the requirements of both majors within the typical candidature of 4 years.   

    Students must meet all requirements of the principal programme and fulfil the following conditions:

    1. complete a Biomaterials-related Final Year Project, and 
    2. choose at least 2 major prescribed electives from a list

    Students will read compulsory courses and choose three from a given list from the second major programme.

    Curriculum

    The curriculum comprises courses from the Materials Engineering programme and foundation courses for the Second Major in Medical Biology, such as Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology. In addition, students will take three electives from a selected list of courses.
