SCSE UG Admissions Information Session 2019
School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE) held its annual information session for its offered applicants at the Grand Hyatt this year on 11 May 2019. The session was well received with over 700 participants attending the event.
The programmed kicked off at 1.50 pm with “Chatty” the AI emcee introducing the student emcees for the afternoon; Okkar, Clarita and Vincent representing the CE, Cs and DSAI programme. Professor Goh Wooi Boon (AC Faculty) and Professor Nicholas Vun (AC Academic) presented the attendees with the information on the overall training and curriculum of the SCSE programmes, while the students shared their learning and university experiences.
Several SCSE faculty along with Prof Wong Chee How (Associate Dean of Students – College of Engineering), management support officers and students were also present on the day to help answer queries.
A number of interactive projects were also set up to allow the attendees to get a feel on the kind of academic and hands on exposure they will gain from undertaking the programme.
Also shared were some interesting facts on student life, hall life beyond school activities and videos by professors on distinctive talent training.
An interactive panel session was also held, where the guest alumni, Mr David Ho and Mr Nicholas Lim gave their inputs on the strengths of the program and shared tips on making choices. They also spoke on changes, trends to anticipate and how to identify the areas to specialise. They also answered questions on how they handled changes since they left university and how they managed to keep up with their expertise with the fast changing trends. They were also joined by the CSE Club president Cedric Lim and Prof Nicholas Vun to answer questions that came through the slido.
The session concluded with Prof Miao Chun Yan – Chair of SCSE, reiterating on the strengths of the program, thanking everyone for their time and presenting tokens of appreciation to the Guest Alumni. The guest were then invited to enjoy the scrumptious hi tea by Grand Hyatt and network with faculty, students and staff of the school.
