SCS IT Leaders Awards 2020: 'Professional of the Year' - Professor Miao Chun Yan

Heartiest congratulations to Prof Miao Chun Yan, President’s Chair Professor & Chair, SCSE, for being awarded the 'Professional of the Year 2020' at the IT Leaders Awards 2020 by Singapore Computer Society (SCS). She has also been elected to the Executive Committee of the SCS.

This Award recognises professionals who use their expertise in Next Generation technologies (e.g. artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, immersive media) to deliver an outstanding contribution and impact to society through their life-changing solutions or products that have positively impacted the community.

Prof Miao is well-known for her impactful AI research in health, ageing, education and digital industry, having received over 20 Best Paper and AI awards including the prestigious National Research Foundation (NRF) Investigatorship Award 2018. 

Prof Miao is the Founding Director and Lead PI of the NTU-UBC Research Centre of Excellence in Active Living for the Elderly (LILY), the first AI-empowered and interdisciplinary ageing research centre in Singapore. In collaboration with NHG and TTSH, LILY’s AI for ageing technologies have reached over 10,000 senior citizens in Singapore.

Prof Miao is also the Founding Director and Lead PI of the Alibaba-NTU Singapore Joint Research Institute, Alibaba’s first joint and largest research institute outside China.
