Biography

Dr Zuo has led and executed cross-functional technical innovative projects for robotics and automation with applications in semiconductor manufacturing, aerospace, healthcare and logistics industries. He developed the cutting-edge 3um orifice-die attached technology for production of commercial ink jets. He was also committed to delivering the close-loop laser consolidation technology for high pressure turbine blade repair in aviation engine services. His early work covers robotic grasping and manipulation (1995-1999), sensor-based autonomous navigation (1999-2000), high speed and high precision sensing and control (2001-2003). He has track records of success in Robotics and Automation, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies with over a decade of project management experiences.

He led a CEO project of Global Telematics for Asset Tracking (2004-2007). He oversaw the creation of new technology and product strategy for mainland China and implemented the large-scale RFID trials at Penske logistics and launched the telematics system to track GE’s wind turbine deliveries in real time. From 2008-2010, he worked on Low Temperature p-Si Systems (LTPS) for emerging OLED manufacturing. He rolled out the system ATP technologies to monitor and analyse the 3KHz thin-beam excimer laser system and silicon crystallization process for high quality and yield.

Prior to joining RRIS, he managed a large-scale interdisciplinary research group of Future Urban Mobility (FM) at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology Centre (SMART). He was assigned a wide range of responsibilities to grow the FM research programme in autonomous vehicles, big data analytics and behavioural modelling. He was also a Principal Investigator to drive the robotics and AI-based innovation for eldercare services.

Currently he is leading the data-driven robotics with human-in-the-loop to enable new assistive capabilities to tackle challenges of aging populations.
