SURFSG, a local start-up that aims to encourage environmentally sustainable practices with the use of an interactive app, was featured in The Straits Times in December 2018 as part of Causes Week 2018. 2 of the founders are alumni members of the Renaissance Engineering Programme - Wong Song Wei, and Ang Wei Loong. Ang Wei Loong, CEO of SURFSG Pte Ltd, said: “The multidisciplinary curriculum of the REP has allowed us to merge both business knowledge and technical skills to create a valuable business plan with a social cause. The programme has also given us many opportunities and resources to test our ideas out in the real commercial world.”
Within a year from conception, the start-up has managed to launch environmental sustainability campaigns reaching out to hundreds of households and has even served 2 Multi-National Companies. The start-up, SURFSG, is also currently a member of raiSE, the Singapore Centre of Social Enterprise.
