Introduction

The Digital Economy has opened the doors to a new generation of entrepreneurs who are transforming the global business landscape, using the new rules to build companies faster and more efficiently than ever before, and disrupting every industry across the world.

The Digital Entrepreneurship Programme is a unique programme that has been designed by a global team of highly experienced educators and entrepreneurs. This 24 week programme teaches learners all of the key areas of expertise you will need to design, validate, launch and build a successful business in the digital economy or transform one befitting for the digital economy. 

The curriculum covers the key elements and models of Digital Entrepreneurship, covering frameworks including Lean Startup, Business Model Canvas and MIT’s Bill Aulet’s Disciplined Entrepreneurship framework, Venture Research and Discovery, Venture Design, Business Model Innovation, as well covering the core elements of Venture Financing. 

In this programme, learners will gain knowledge and experience through Active Learning, a hands-on learning approach, designed and taught by leading entrepreneurs and industry experts. Learners will work in groups and teams, collaborating and developing soft skills and key project and team management skills in the process.

Learners will advance their knowledge and skills by developing and building their own business idea which they will pitch in the last week to the rest of the cohort, as well as a panel of mentors, investors and experienced entrepreneurs. 

This programme is also for intrapreneurs seeking to develop the mindset and infrastructure needed for growth, to have a system view of growth, and to understand the framework for transformation in order to generate new growth within the organization.

Most importantly, learners are supported by a team of globally experienced instructors, and a dedicated student success manager, who coordinates one-on-one mentoring for the Learners.

The learners taking part in the programme will also have access to our Skills Board, where Learners from our other programmes in Software Engineering, UX and Product Management are available to work with the entrepreneurs as part of developing their portfolios.

This programme will allow the learners to learn

• A systematic understanding of Digital Entrepreneurship
• A critical understanding of key frameworks used in Digital Entrepreneurship strategizing, including Lean, Business Model Canvas and Bill Aulet’s Disciplined Entrepreneurship model.
• A comprehensive understanding of Research and Discovery methods, Venture Design and Business Model Innovation.
• The fundamentals of Venture Financing.
• Prototype your digital solutions (product or service).
• Growth strategy that includes a digital marketing and sales plan and growth hacking.
• Learners will apply their learnings to a project incorporating each of the techniques, methods and key topics covered in the programme, and synthesise all the elements of a designing and building a digital business in a robust, clear way.

Module Title

Synopsis

Introduction to Digital Entrepreneurship

In this first module we introduce the role of the Entrepreneur in the Digital Age, exploring the changing economic landscape and the future of work, where the rules of business are changing and the rate of change is accelerating.

Entrepreneurship Frameworks, Research and Discovery

This module covers the most widely established entrepreneurship frameworks. Learners will apply these methods and frameworks to develop their own business idea, which they will pitch to real business mentors and established entrepreneurs at the end of the module.

Venture Design and Business Model Innovation

Learners will learn the different aspects of venture design, looking at different business models and customer needs, and how these inform the business Value Proposition and strategic competitive positioning. This includes defining the core customer profiles, mapping the customer journey, defining the cost of customer acquisition and the customer lifetime value, in order to create a scalable business model.

Product Development and User ExperienceDesign

Learners will learn the fundamentals of Product Development and UX Design, learning how to first define the problem, develop core product requirements, and take the practical steps to build a Minimum Viable Product. Learners will learn industry-standard UX design methods and prototyping then use the latest User Testing methodologies to validate assumptions to help attain Product-Market Fit.

Growth Strategy and Venture Financing

Learners are introduced to the fundamentals of scaling a business, including how to build a growth strategy, identifying the core business drivers, and building a financial plan. Learners will learn about the different options available to entrepreneurs for raising capital, and the pros and cons of different financing pathways versus bootstrapping the business, and help them to develop a financing strategy to support the growth of their business.

Digital Marketing and Sales

In this module, we cover all of the core elements of digital marketing and sales. Learners will learn to use no-code tools to build a website, create the company branding and marketing collateral, develop asocial media and content strategy, Google Analytics and Search Engine advertising, and how to use CRM systems to build effective sales funnels, and the essentials of building an effective sales strategy.
 Agile Organisations This module teaches learners about iterative design, and agile methodologies, and the best practices for running the day to day operations of an agile business in the digital economy. This includes Agile (Scrum and Kanban) how to build effective, resilient teams who can effectively respond including hiring, onboarding and performance management, as well how to develop effective communication and an outcomes-focused high-performance culture.
 Business Pitch Learners will hone their business pitch by presenting their individual and group business projects. In the final two weeks of the programme, students will pitch their business deck and plan to a panel of entrepreneurs and investors.


Methodology

The Programme is designed to accelerate career development to prepare our learners for the digital economy. Despite all of our technological advances, learning science shows that people learn best from people, in active environments where we are challenged and encouraged.

Therefore our approach to learning in this course employs active, social learning as the best way to help learners learn the information and skills they need.

Elements of active social learning that learners will experience on this course include:

• Concrete experiences and practising new skills and knowledge: our learners will apply practical skills and improve them over time as they go through the course
• Wide ranging activities to engage learners and embed the knowledge and skills they are learning: this can include discussions, individual and group projects, presentations, writing blogs, demonstrations and other assignments
• Principles of the flipped classroom model: learners will work on projects and absorb additional information between lessons so that the contact time with teachers can be focused on ensuring learning is optimum during synchronous time spent in class, not just sharing new information.
• Activities based on retention and retrieval including quizzes, discussions, challenges, reflections and reviews, culminating in a final presentation in the final week.

This project-based, experiential learning approach also gives students an opportunity to learn essential soft skills, such as how to communicate with clients and the skills they will need in their career for any client-facing role.

This programme is for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents jobseekers meeting the following criteria:

  1. Two or more years of experience and have been impacted by COVID-19
  2. Diploma or equivalent work experience with background in any form of business venture, innovation, Business degree, or Information Technology (IT)
  3. Pre-course assessment and interview

 

Training Allowance:

All trainees will receive training allowance of $1,200 per month for the duration of course attended.
