Introduction

This course is a second series of creative writing workshops for literary appraisals of unpublished writing manuscripts, to provide greater exploration of participants’ writing projects. Manuscripts may be at different stages of maturation. All writing genres are welcome and encouraged, from fiction, poetry, nonfiction to children’s writing. Offered as a safe and open creative space, this workshop environment approaches manuscripts with both craft and publication in mind.

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

- Demonstrate an awareness of critically analysing writing manuscripts. 

- Demonstrate an appreciation of creative aspects of different literary genres.

- Develop the ability to apply humanities research and research methods to the creative industries.

- Develop an appreciation of the particularity, diversity and range of opportunities from both a theoretical and practical perspective. 

- Develop an appreciation of the cultural and social contexts that influence contemporary publishing.
