Introduction
This course will provide an overview of the different qualitative and quantitative methods and tools available for ageing research. Students will gain a broad conceptual understanding of the various methods and gain practical experience on using the method for conducting research on topics related to older persons.

Assoc Prof Ho Hau Yan Andy

Prof Andy H. Y. Ho is a multiple award winning social scientist, educator and psychologist who specializes in psychosocial gerontology, arts and creative ageing, palliative and bereavement care, holistic therapies and community empowerment. He is a Board Director of the prestigious International Work Group on Death Dying and Bereavement (IWGDDB), as well as the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC). He is also a Fellow in Thanatology and a Marriage and Family Therapist.

Assoc Prof Premchand Varma Dommaraju is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Director of the MSc in Applied Gerontology programme at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He received his PhD in sociology from Arizona State University and did his post-doctoral fellowship at Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore. Before switching to sociology for my graduate studies, Assoc Prof Premchand studied computer science and engineering and received B.Eng (First Class) degree from University of Madras. Assoc Prof Premchand’s research focuses on social and demographic transformations and their implications in Asia. He is particularly interested in marriage and divorce, families and households, and ageing in South, Southeast and Central Asia. His work has appeared in leading population and demographic journals including Population and Development Review, Population Studies, Demographic Research and Social Science & Medicine.
