​NTU Singapore co-hosts nation's inaugural panel session on globalisation at World Economic Forum in Davos

On 24th January, NTU Singapore co-hosted the nation's inaugural panel and reception event alongside the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland. Focusing on the theme "Globalisation 4.0: Technology & Innovation for Humanity", the NTU-NUS panel discussed how Singapore is addressing the challenges of Industry 4.0, and promoting a new "Globalisation 4.0" that will shape the growth of ASEAN, Asia and beyond, over the remaining course of the 21st century. Over 80 prominent business and government leaders attended the event.

The panellists included Mr Heng Swee Keat, Singapore's Minister for Finance; Mr Lim Chow Kiat, Chief Executive Officer of GIC and an Alumnus of NTU Singapore; Professor Suzanne Fortier, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Canada's McGill University; and Mr Dion Weisler, President & Chief Executive Officer of HP. Both Professor Subra Suresh, President of NTU Singapore and Professor Tan Eng Chye, President of the National University of Singapore (NUS), jointly hosted the panel discussion. The discussions were also moderated by Professor Alan Chan, NTU Singapore's Vice President for Alumni and Advancement.

NTU Singapore is the latest institution to join the exclusive group of universities in the Global University Leaders Forum (GULF), an intellectual community within the World Economic Forum that provides thought leadership and academic stewardship on higher education, innovation and research to the Forum.

NTU Singapore's participation at the 2019 World Economic Forum was coordinated by the Office of International Affairs (OIA). Ms Jenny Hällen Hedberg, Director, Mr Daryl Gomes, Manager, and Ms Joan Agustin, Senior Executive, represented OIA at this prestigious meeting.
