SingPost’s continued postal mail operations have grown increasingly shaky under challenges posed by technological innovations like the Internet, mobile smartphones and social media. By 2012, there was a significant growth in the use of digital communications which led to the reduction in the use of postal and related services. That pushed its board to urgently search for new growth areas to counter the expected drop in revenue and profits from postage fees.
