Wellbeing is not just about being happy nor is it the absence of illness. A positive sense of wellbeing involves feeling well and functioning well. It is essential for flourishing and encompasses emotional resilience that enables us to enjoy life and to overcome challenges. In NTU, we endeavour to enhance and support the wellbeing of all our students enabling them to excel and thrive. We adopt a campus community approach to student support and care through which the various Departments, Schools, and Halls work together to deliver an effective level of care for our students. Our focus areas are:
- Counselling services
- Proactive and preventive talks and training
- Student care and support
- Policies, guidelines and partnerships
The University Counselling Centre (UCC), known as the University Wellbeing Centre prior to 1 April 2021, provides professional counselling and related psychological wellbeing services to our students and staff. UCC supports and empowers students and employees to take positive action by developing their potentials and life skills.

In NTU, we believe in a community approach to wellbeing. Student volunteers are part of our Peer Helping team to raise awareness of the importance of mental wellbeing, through outreach activities at our PHP Cozy Hub. Our trained Peer Helpers, together with counsellors at the University Counselling Centre, also support students experiencing psychological distress.
