  • ​Professional Librarians, including Assistant Librarians


    Assistant Director, Research Data Management Team

    We invite applications for the position of Assistant Director in our Research Data Management team in the Office of Information, Knowledge and Library Services (OIKLS). The incumbent must demonstrate strong leadership potential, is innovative and passionate in the planning, implementation, and assessment of research data management services. The services include instruction, consultations, and partnerships with faculty, researchers, institutional stakeholders and other librarians on data management plans, data archiving, data sharing, data management tools and strategies, metadata standards and open science. The incumbent will need to develop a robust understanding of tools and support mechanisms available on campus and also stay up-to-date on funding agencies, publishers and institutional data management policies.

    Key responsibilities:

    The successful candidate will:

    • Work closely with the Team Lead, Research Data Management to design and implement strategies and plans that will help NTU researchers achieve maximum benefits of research data management and sharing while meeting funding agencies, publishers and institutional requirements
    • Plan and manage the collaboration of RDM Team with subject specific experts to integrate data management best practices across disciplines and translate them in instruction, online self-helps, FAQs, etc.
    • Review and design data management planning education, guidance and templates by consulting international best practices and available data management plans so as to help NTU researchers reap maximum benefits from data management planning
    • Serve the NTU research community by conducting a variety of workshops, organising symposiums/seminars/talks/roadshows, and providing online self-helps to promote good research data management best practices, responsible data sharing and open science, in collaboration with other RDM Team members, Library colleagues, etc.
    • Develop turnaround and advisory guidelines for the RDM Team to ensure that response and advice to enquirers and data depositors are given in an effective and timely manner and guide RDM Team members in meeting agreed standards

    Qualifications:

    • MSc in Information Studies or MLIS
    • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
    • Knowledge of the research data lifecycle and research processes with an understanding of the issues surrounding scholarly communication across a variety of disciplines
    • Knowledge of data analysis tools and methods used in scientific research
    • Demonstrated ability to work strategically and collaboratively with stakeholders to build programs and initiatives
    • At least 5 years working experience in an academic library or research setting, with exposure to scholarly communication and research support

    Senior Librarian, Research Data Management Team

    We invite applications for the position of Senior Librarian in our Research Data Management team in the Office of Information, Knowledge and Library Services (OIKLS). We are looking for a meticulous and dynamic individual with excellent communication skills who is passionate about the opportunity to support researchers from diverse disciplines in research data management. Such services include instruction, consultations, and partnerships with faculty, researchers, institutional stakeholders and other librarians on data management plans, data archiving, data sharing, data management tools and strategies, and metadata standards. The successful candidate will need to develop a robust understanding of best practices for research data management as well as institutional, funding agencies and publishers’ requirements and options. This is critical knowledge to build and apply in the delivery of services.

    Key responsibilities:

    The successful candidate will:

    • Actively monitor activities in the NTU research data repository and follow-up with data depositors to provide advice that will help them achieve maximum benefits of responsible data sharing while meeting funding agencies, publishers and institutional requirements
    • Represent RDM Team to follow up with relevant technical support parties on NTU data repository technical matters. This shall include ensuring RDM Team members are kept abreast of latest changes in functions and new options in upgraded NTU data repository environment and that the relevant repository usage and deposit guides are updated in a timely manner
    • Collaborate with subject specific experts to integrate data management best practices across disciplines and translate them in instruction, online self-helps, FAQs, etc.
    • Consult international best practices and available DMP data when providing data management planning education, guidance and templates
    • Serve the NTU research community by conducting a variety of workshops, organising symposiums/seminars/talks/roadshows, and providing online self-helps to promote good research data management best practices, responsible data sharing and open science, in collaboration with other RDM Team members, Library colleagues, etc.

    Qualifications:

    • MSc in Information Studies or MLIS
    • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
    • At least 3 years working in an academic library or research setting, with exposure to scholarly communication and research support
    • Knowledge of research data management

    Librarian, Research Data Management

    We invite applications for the position of Librarian, Research Data Management. The successful candidate will be expected to implement solutions and provide services to make effective use of current IT tools and methods to support the NTU research data repository, provide research data management related services to the NTU community by assisting in the development and implementation of the research data management services, including instructional training and provision of online guides on research data management. This is a 2 year contract position (subject to renewal).

    Key responsibilities:

    The successful candidate will:

    • Explore, recommend and implement the use of Dataverse APIs, third-party and open source integrations to provide useful front and back-facing automated and integrated services
    • Lead, administer, maintain and support the NTU research data repository for its software updates and management
    • Support integration of institutional research outputs management platform with DR-NTU, DR-NTU (Data) and institutional ORCID solutions
    • Perform research data curation checks on NTU research data repository
    • Provide on-demand and customised NTU research data repository services, consultation and instruction for research data reproducibility

    Qualifications:

    • MSc Information Studies or MLIS (is preferred)
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology
    • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Java)
    • Experience with MatLab software/data and statistical analysis applications
    • Ability to add insights and present complex information in a simple format
    • Keen eye and attention to details
    • Ability to communicate and collaborate with different individuals and teams
    • Ability to manage multiple projects & tasks at the same time
    • Supervisory and coaching skills
