Modern life can be busy and stressful. Often, our mind is more “mind full” than “mindful” as we multi-task our way through our overwhelming schedules. This workshop introduces some mindfulness strategies to help us live in the present moment, manage our stress levels and create space to be mindfully present with others.
As part of NTU Service Week, Dr Tanya Tierney (Assistant Dean, Clinical Communication Training, NTU LKCMedicine) will be conducting workshops that focus on the health and wellbeing, which include mindfulness techniques.
About the speaker:
Dr Tanya Tierney is Assistant Dean, Clinical Communication at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. In this role she encourages medical students to practice with their heart as well as their head and to connect deeply with their patients and to themselves to stay true to the reasons they chose medicine as a career. Bringing mindfulness to this role enables her to be more present for her students whilst enabling them to communicate more mindfully with their future patients and attend to their own wellbeing.
She has taught mindfulness and mindful self-compassion to students, clinicians, educators and members of the public. She is a trained teacher for the Mindful Self-Compassion programme and the “Self-Compassion for Healthcare Communities” adaptation.
