Emerging Scholars Forum brings together exceptional early-career researchers in Engineering and Chemistry to discuss cutting-edge research, experience NTU's vibrant academic environment, and network with peers and potential mentors.

The College of Engineering (CoE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore invites outstanding senior graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from around the world to apply for the Emerging Scholars Forum 2027. This exclusive platform offers the chance to connect with leading academics, explore collaborative opportunities, and gain valuable insights into one of the world’s top engineering colleges.

This interdisciplinary forum will bring together exceptional early-career researchers in engineering and chemistry to discuss cutting-edge research, experience NTU's vibrant academic environment, and network with peers and potential mentors. Selected participants will have their travel and accommodation expenses fully covered by NTU.

Who Should Apply

We welcome outstanding senior graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with expertise in all areas of Engineering and Chemistry, including but not limited to:

Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB)

  • Biocatalysis, chemical biology, advanced spectroscopy, (bio)analytical & bioimaging technologies
  • Polymer science & engineering, process systems engineering & modelling, chemical reaction engineering, fluid dynamics & microfluidics
  • AI, machine learning & automation technologies for chemistry and chemical engineering
  • Nanotherapeutics, biomaterials, synthetic & systems biology, RNA/protein/vector engineering, regenerative medicine & tissue engineering
  • Medical devices & technology, translational ophthalmic engineering

Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE)

  • Coastal protection, geotechnical & structural engineering
  • Low-carbon materials, waste management, urban sustainability, environmental health
  • Digital construction, maritime studies & management

Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE)

  • Renewable energy, smart power grids & energy storage
  • Control & robotics, autonomous systems
  • Integrated circuit design, microelectronics & semiconductor devices, bioelectronics, quantum technologies
  • Signal & information processing, machine learning & AI
  • Next-gen wireless optical technologies, space-based communication systems, small satellite technologies

Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE)

  • Aerospace materials & structures, hybrid propulsion & electrification
  • Space technology: rocket propulsion, spacecraft design, dynamics & attitude control
  • Smart airport & aviation management
  • Surface engineering, metrology, precision engineering, metamorphic & digital manufacturing systems
  • Robotics, industrial AI, biomechanics
  • Marine, geothermal & nuclear energy, hydrogen & alternative energy technologies, carbon management, intelligent energy systems & urban sustainability

Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)

  • Materials chemistry, inorganic materials, future electronics
  • Materials for extreme environments, sustainable applications & food applications
  • AI approaches for materials, modelling & simulation, materials discovery, automated materials synthesis
  • Quantum materials & photonics, biomaterials
  • Renewable energy & catalysis
