NTU Phonathon Programme

Launched by NTU's Development Office in 2006, the NTU Student Phonathon aims to cultivate and nurture a culture of giving among graduating students and alumni, and encourage greater alumni participation in Annual Giving. Annual giving galvanises the support of NTU students, alumni, and its faculty and staff members towards the common vision of excellence in education, research and service to society in NTU.

The phonathon call centre is housed at LT2A-B4-01. Phonathon hours are typically scheduled as below:
Mon - Thu: 6:30pm to 9.30pm
Sun: 1pm to 4pm and 4.15pm to 7.15pm

Every semester, about 25 NTU students are selectively hired and trained as phonathon callers. When calling up the alumni, these student callers check for an update of particulars, besides sharing highlights of what's happening on campus, and mutual school experiences to reconnect them to their alma mater. Most importantly, the phonathon calls seek participation in NTU Annual Giving.

To ensure the confidentiality of personal particulars, all phonathon sessions are conducted inside the phonathon room and supervised by a full time Development Office staff. Student callers are only provided basic contact information, without access to the alumni database.

Each year, the Annual Giving cycle begins with the graduating students and alumni being contacted through the direct mail (with an option to give online). If the students and alumni respond with a gift, no phonathon calls will be made to them that year. These phone calls serve as a reminder or follow-up to the direct mailers. Being part of the University's Annual Giving programme, the Phonathon Programme serves to find out if the direct mailer has reached the correct address or if the mailer has slipped the attention of the students or alumni. When a phonathon caller rings up a student or an alumnus, it is a personable way to follow up and to chat and share something they have in common.

Why are we calling for a gift?

Annual contributions from alumni enhance the value and prestige of your NTU degree and allow the university to continue investing in its students, faculty, academic programs and student experiences.

With the private support and gifts from students, alumni and friends, it brings the possibility of a strong margin of excellence that defines a great university. It allows NTU to uphold its commitment to providing quality education while ensuring affordability. Through private support, NTU is also able to assist qualified students with financial difficulties with scholarships and bursaries.

We are grateful to all students and alumni who have contributed, at any gift level, to NTU Annual Giving. These students and alumni set an excellent example by creating a culture of giving and nurturing a spirit of philanthropy amongst the Nanyang family.

Annual Giving donors can designate their gift to NTU Bursaries, School/ Centre Advancement, NTU Student & Education Life or NTU General Endowment
