Our language modules suit all kind of learners, whether you just want to try out a new language, want to work towards a Minor in Modern Languages, prepare for an exchange semester, travel or work abroad. Join us to experience the intellectual, cultural and personal enrichment that comes from learning a new language. At the Centre for Modern Languages, we provide undergraduate and postgraduate students of all disciplines a choice of courses in Asian and European languages. CML Courses include Arabic, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Malay, Russian, Singapore Sign Language, Spanish, Tamil, Thai, and Vietnamese.

The CML academic team engages in extensive research to stay at the forefront of teaching quality and pedagogical developments. The centre’s research projects are primarily focused on foreign language acquisition and bilingualism, especially language learning strategies, motivation, natural order of acquisition, and cognitive processes.
