SUCCEED 2026 at NTU: Shaping Tomorrow’s Engineers

The Singapore Universities Combined Civil Engineering Engagement Day (SUCCEED) 2026 was held on 7 February, bringing together 160 students from various institutions across Singapore for a day of collaboration, innovation, and industry engagement.
SUCCEED is a rotational inter-university initiative between Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS) and Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). This year also marked the first participation of students from Singapore Polytechnic, strengthening cross-institutional exchange within the civil engineering community.
The event was opened by Professor Chu Jian, Chair of NTU School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), who warmly welcomed participants. As part of the event highlights, students worked in interdisciplinary teams to conceptualise and construct a floating tower that was sustainable, creative, and structurally tall, while maintaining stability under wave action in a pool-based testing arena.
The following top three winning teams were selected:
(from left to right, 1st Place) William Mulia, Vanessa Widjaja Wong, Kezia Stevani Gerrard Silalahi, Jennifer Lin, and Devano Dyjee Vicolla (NTU Team)
(from left to right, 2nd Place) Sai Aung Thant, Ja Doi Sin, Myo Myat Pwint Phyu, and Win Thura Kyaw (SP Team)
(from left to right, 3rd Place) Jervis Yeo, Ng Chee Jiet, and Ian Lim Zhengjie (NTU Team)
Beyond the competition, students had the opportunity to engage with 30 representatives from eight sponsoring companies: Bachy Soletanche Singapore, Chuan Lim Construction, CPG Corporation, Hwa Seng Builder, Lum Chang Building Contractors, Obayashi Singapore, Surbana Jurong, and Utracon Structural Systems. These interactions provided students with meaningful networking opportunities and insights into the evolving demands of civil engineering.
The Organising Committee of SUCCEED 2026 would like to sincerely thank all student participants, faculty members from NTU, NUS, SIT, and SP, as well as their sponsoring partners, for the invaluable support in making this event a success.
Through initiatives like SUCCEED, the engineering community continues to nurture collaboration, industry readiness, and the next generation of civil engineering talent.
