CEE Student Video Competition

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, NTU is pleased to announce:
The CEE-2021 Student Video Competition

Theme: “Journey to an Exciting Career and Leaders for the Future”
Video’s Target Audience: High School, Junior College and Polytechnic students

Prizes (SGD):

Two prizes1 to be won for each for the following tracks: (1) Civil Engineering, (2) Environmental Engineering, and (3) Maritime Professional.

  • First Place: $3,000

  • Second Place: $1,250


Eligibility:

You are encouraged to form teams to participate in the competition. The team leader must be an undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled in CEE, NTU. The other team members must be enrolled in a university in Singapore or an alumnus of CEE (class of 2016-2020) at the deadline for video submission.

Important Dates and Competition Format:

Submission of proposed concepts and ideas of video

Invitation to shortlisted teams to submit video shortlisted teams (Shortlisted teams will be able to submit claims of up to SGD150 per team, for expenses incurred in activities, video production and sundries related to the competition.)

Participants are to submit their proposed concepts and ideas of the video via email to A/P Tan Soon Keat ([email protected]). The proposed video needs to focus on one of the following three professional careers: (1) Civil Engineering; (2) Environmental Engineering; and (3) Maritime Operations and Business Practices. Each video is to cover one of the three professional careers only.

Motivation:

The CEE-2021 Student Video Competition seeks to highlight civil engineering, environmental and maritime professionals to increase awareness about the field and encourage young people to learn more about stewardship of civil infrastructure, water, land, air, environment, marine and maritime resources, energy and wellbeing of the urban society. The theme of the competition is “Journey to an Exciting Career and Leaders for the Future”. Some ideas for video topics include:

  • What do Civil Engineering, Environmental, or Maritime Profession mean to you?

  • How do Civil Engineering, Environmental, or Maritime Profession improve your quality of life?

  • What might life in Singapore look like without Civil Engineering, Environmental or Maritime Professionals?

  • How Civil Engineering, Environmental or Maritime Profession has shaped the world and Singapore, and the future.

  • What is there for you to become a civil engineering, environmental and maritime professional?

  • Who, among our past alumni, engineers or professionals, have inspired you to see the importance of or to develop a passion for civil engineering, environmental engineering or maritime studies?

  • What is the uniqueness of our CEE School? How has the School of CEE nurtured you in your journey to become a civil engineering, environmental, and maritime professional?

  • What do you like about civil engineering/environmental engineering/maritime studies?


The video submitted must be in MP4 format and features voice and graphic illustration for 3 – 5 minutes. Note that the submitted videos and media products would become the intellectual properties of CEE.
