MSc in Chemical Sciences and Instrumentation

The Master of Science in Chemical Sciences and Instrumentation programme is targeted at professionals looking to maximize their potential in the energy and chemicals industry, as well as recent graduates seeking a headstart in their careers.
Chemistry bridges the physical sciences with applied disciplines such as medicine and engineering, playing a crucial role in sustainable energy, electric vehicles, urban farming, 3D printing, nanotechnology, and other growing industries. In 2019, the International Council of Chemical Associations estimated that the chemical industry contributed 7% to global gross domestic product (GDP), and supported 120 million jobs worldwide. In Singapore, the energy and chemicals sector is one third of the total manufacturing output (around S$81 billion), and is projected to grow by an additional S$12.7 billion by 2025 according to a Ministry of Trade and Industry roadmap.
This Masters programme equips students with transferable and interdisciplinary skills in chemistry, chemical instrumentation, data science, and technopreneurship. The curriculum includes advanced theoretical courses in the sub-disciplines of chemistry, hands-on exposure to some of the latest equipment, as well as training in commercialization, data analytics, and communication. The complementary depth and breadth of the programme is aimed at helping graduates adapt and thrive in a knowledge-based economy.
The MSc in Chemical Sciences and Instrumentation Programme is an intensive 1-year full-time or 2-year part-time programme by coursework.
It consists of 30 Academic Units (AU), with 15 AU of compulsory courses, 10 AU from the chosen specialisation's electives, and 5 AU from other electives:
