About Us

The Centre for Applied Financial Education (CAFE) represents the latest innovation to enhance business education at the Nanyang Business School (NBS) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Established in 2014, CAFE aims to spearhead the learning of finance from an applied perspective. And the first initiative of CAFE is to introduce Platform-based learning (PBL) as a track in banking and finance at NBS.

PBL is a new pedagogical approach which integrates the use of financial industry’s top data analysis tools such as Thomson Reuters Eikon (now Refinitiv) and Bloomberg trading terminals. This track will prepare students to be industry-ready and to contribute and generate value for the financial institutions immediately when they start work.

After a successful run, PBL has its final cohort in 2021 to make way for the structured curriculum in Banking and Finance.
CAFE will also continue to develop innovative ways of raising financial literacy.
