Living with Robots: Fiction, Reality or an Opportunity?

Webinar EDM Living With Robots Thumbmail_575 x 575
25 Nov 2021 12.00 PM - 01.00 PM Alumni, Current Students, Industry/Academic Partners

Robots perform heart surgery: reality. Robots help the elderly get up from bed: fiction.

In the robotic world, the line between fiction and reality is counterintuitive. The growth in robotic technology is now entering a golden age. At home, vacuum robots clean our floors autonomously while we are at work. In hotels, delivery robots deliver items to our rooms. On the road, self-driving cars take us to our designated destination with minimal human help.

The next generation of robots offer significant opportunities for improving our quality of life as well as in meeting some of society’s most pressing needs – the current pandemic and aging population.

In this webinar, Professor David Hsu will share some insights into the latest robot technology development, dispel some unrealistic expectations, and most importantly, have a conversation to speculate on what lies ahead, why some robots succeed more than others, and what all these mean for Singapore.
