Navjot Sodhi Conservation Research Award to ASE PhD student Anushka Rege

Congratulations to Anushka Rege, the 2021 recipient of the Navjot Sodhi Conservation Research Award from the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC).

The Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation presents the Navjot Sodhi Conservation Research Award on an annual basis to a student from a developing country conducting research in tropical conservation biology. The award was created in remembrance and recognition of the Navjot Sodhi, a prominent conservation biologist at NUS who inspired many students and colleagues with his passion for research and the conservation of tropical biodiversity. Sodhi, who passed away in 2011, mentored many young scientists from Singapore and Southeast Asia. The recipient receives a cash award of $500 to be used towards research-related expenses that will enhance an ongoing research in tropical biodiversity conservation, in Anushka’s case a project entitled "Evaluating the socio-environmental impacts of cashew monoculture expansion in northern Western Ghats, India".
