Chess Grandmaster and CEO of Singapore Chess Federation

While most players attained grandmaster status by training full time, Kevin juggled a career as the Chief Financial Officer of Lucence, a biomedical start-up specialising in cancer diagnostics. With more than 30 years of experience playing chess, he has been awarded NTU Sportsman of the Year 2005/06, Tatler's Gen.T Leader of Tomorrow Honouree in 2020, and JCI Singapore's Ten Outstanding Young Persons. - Sim Kai Xiong (SSM/2022)
Professional Mixed Martial Arts Athlete and Coach
Kai Xiong started participating in amateur tournaments in 2014 and won his first amateur boxing championship in the same year. He spent the next nine years building up his skills and racking up competition experience. A professional mixed martial arts fighter since 2019, Kai Xiong is the first Singaporean to take part in Road to UFC, a tournament for top Asian prospects, in May 2023. He hopes that his appearance in the fight will help create interest in the local MMA scene and increase its talent pool.
