Triple Z Ltd
He was president of the ETH Board, director of the Swiss Institute for Aquatic Sciences (EAWAG) and Professor emeritus of ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Before he was on the faculty of Wageningen University, the Netherlands and Stanford University, USA.
He is founder and director of triple Z GmbH, Zurich (www.triplez.ch) and partner of NanRise Pte Ltd Singapore (www.nanrise.sg), a NTU spin-off.
He chairs the Scientific Advisory Board of SCELSE, one of Singapore’s Research Centre of Excellence. He is a member of the Council STS (Science and Technology in Society) forum Kyoto, the Board of Trustees of the Dubai based Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award, the Board of Holinger AG, Switzerland for consulting, planning and realization in construction, process and environmental technology, the Advisory Board of Agrotechnology & Food Science (AFSG), Wageningen University and Research, and the Industry Advisory Board of zouk ventures, a London based venture capital firm investing primarily into clean technology, energy and water.
Outside of academia he is involved in developing capital market instruments for more sustainable production and use of natural resources. The Dow Jones Sustainability Index is based on some of his contributions. He is one of the “founding fathers” of the concept of the “2000 Watt” Society.
He holds an honorary doctoral degree of the University in Nancy, France, is Member of the Dutch Royal Academy of Sciences, the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, the Academia Europaea, and a Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He is a recipient of the Ordre of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany and Public Service Medal, Republic of Singapore
