QR Code e-Check-In Guide


Q1: What is electronic check-in and what do I need to do?

Starting from Wednesday, 12 February, the University has implemented an electronic check-in measure for all classes, meetings and events, to facilitate contact tracing should the need arise. Contact tracing is a mandatory national precautionary measure to limit person-to-person transmission of COVID-19.

All faculty, staff, students and visitors are required to check-in their attendance at shared indoor campus facilities by scanning a QR code using their smartphones.

Q2: Where can I find the QR code for electronic check-in?

Location-specific QR codes will be placed at the entrance of lecture theatres, seminar and tutorial rooms, laboratories and meeting rooms in NTU, such as the following:

Scanning the QR code with a smartphone will lead to an online form where you will be required to fill in your name and mobile number.

You can also access the QR code/URL by locations on the NTU website:

  1. For Staff and Students
  2. For Visitors

Q3: How do I login to the online form after scanning the QR code?

Simply login using your Office 365 User ID in the following format:

  1. NTU Staff – username@staff.main.ntu.edu.sg
  2. NIE Staff – username@niestaff.cluster.nie.edu.sg
  3. NTU/NIE Students – username@e.ntu.edu.sg

The password is the same as your network account password. Note that login is not required for accessing the visitors’ online form.

Q4: Do I have to login each time I scan the QR code?

To reduce the number of times you are asked to login, simply click ‘Yes’ when prompted as shown below:

Q5: If I am using an iPhone, what should I use to scan the QR code?

For iPhone users, you can simply use the native camera app to scan the QR Code:

And if you are using private browsing mode on Safari, you may be prompted to login to the online form each time you scan the QR code. To switch off private browsing, simply follow the steps below:/p>

(1) Tap on show pages button

(2) Tap on Private button


(3) Tap on Done button


Q6: I have scanned the QR code, but it does not work. What can I do?

Firstly, try scanning a different QR Code. If it works, the problem probably lies with that specific QR Code printed, and please help to report this to ServiceNow@NTU.

For those using Android phones, if the above still does not work, try reinstalling your QR code reader app or use a different QR code reader.

If you manage to scan the QR code but somehow it could not load the online form, try changing your QR code reader built-in browser to open web pages in your default mobile browser; OR switch off private browsing on your browser.
