International Graduate Students

International graduate students are required to apply via the Part-time Employment Application System for endorsement to work part-time. The approving agency is One Stop @ SAC.

Eligibility

Scholarship holders shall continue to be bound by the terms and conditions of their award with respect to employment.

 

Terms and Conditions

 

  • Full-time international Master students are allowed to work 16 hours per week during term time and 40 hours per week during the vacation. .
     
  • Full-time international PhD students on scholarship with a confirmed PhD candidature are allowed to work 16 hours per week. 
  • Full-time international PhD students not on scholarship with a confirmed PhD candidature are allowed to work 16 hours per week.
     
  • All full-time international Master students who have submitted their thesis and/or have completed all coursework but have yet to receive the letter of degree conferment are allowed to work 40 hours per week, until they receive their letter of degree conferment.
  • All full-time international PhD students who have submitted their thesis, and whose scholarship has ended, are allowed to work 16 hours per week.
  • All full-time international Master and PhD students are to make payment for the compulsory Group Hospitalisation and Surgical Insurance (GHSI) scheme to ensure they are adequately covered under this scheme while working part-time. 
  • All full-time international Master and PhD students are allowed to work part-time only until they receive the letter of degree conferment. Upon receiving the letter of degree conferment, they will have to surrender their student pass to ICA within 7 working days.  They are not allowed to work without a student pass.  If they wish to continue working, their employer will have to apply for an appropriate work pass for them. 
  •  The approval for working part-time will be revoked if: 

         a. The student is found working in a disreputable establishment.

         b. The student is found involved in activities detrimental to the interest of Singapore.

         c. The student is working more than the number of hours allowed.

         d. The student is not meeting the required academic standard.

 

Application procedure:

 

 

  • You will be informed by email of the outcome of your application within 7 working days. If successful, the approval email that includes the letter of endorsement will be emailed to you through the Part-time Employment Application System by One Stop.

 

  • A fresh application is necessary whenever there is a change of employment.
