Professor Eddie Kuo retires from his role as Executive Director of SiRC in January 2008. Associate Professor Ang Peng Hwa will take over charge as Centre Director while a search for the role of Executive Director is currently underway. Professor Kuo will continue to provide valuable support to the centre in his new role as Advisor to the SiRC.

An Asia-Europe Workshop funded by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and the Asia Alliance titled Gatekeepers in a Digital Asian-European Media Landscape: The rising structural power of Internet search engines will be held in February 2008. The State of Play V – Building the Global Metaverse will be held in Singapore, on 19-22 August 2007. The State of Play – Building the Global Metaverse 2007 is the fifth annual conference on the future of virtual worlds. Organised by New York Law School in conjunction with Trinity University, Harvard Law School, Yale Law School and Nanyang Technological University (CAPTEL, Nanyang Business School and SiRC, Wee Kim Wee School of Communication & Information), this year’s conference invites experts across disciplines to discuss the transnational dimensions of the metaverse and the impact of virtual environment on Education, Law, Politics and Society.
