Access & Correction

  1. Can I request access to my personal data held by NTU?
    You may request to access to your personal data held by NTU. However there are exceptions such as legal professional privilege information, opinion data kept solely for evaluative purposes, etc.

  2. Can I request to correct my personal data held by NTU?
    You may request to correct an error or omission in the personal data NTU holds about you.
    NTU is committed to send the corrected personal data to every other organisation to which the personal data was disclosed by us within a year before the correction, unless the other organisation does not need the corrected personal data for any legal or business purpose or to seek your consent to send your corrected data only to specific organisations.

  3. Can NTU charge a fee for my access request?
    NTU may charge a reasonable fee on a cost recovery basis. The base initial fee is SGD$30.00. However, additional cost will be incurred if further efforts are required in dealing with your request. NTU will advise you accordingly and seek your consent to proceed with the work.

  4. Can NTU charge a fee for my correction request?
    There is no fee to be imposed for the correction of personal data, as it is NTU’s obligation under the Accuracy Obligation to obtain personal data that is accurate and complete.

Care of Personal Data

  1. How long can NTU retain my personal data for?
    The PDPA does not prescribe the retention period. However, NTU shall cease to retain personal data as soon as the purpose of collection is no longer served by the retention, and retention is no longer necessary for business or legal purposes.

  2. Can I ask NTU to delete my personal data from their records?
    You may indicate tell NTU to stop collecting, using or disclosing your personal data at any time. However, NTU is not required to delete or destroy your personal data and may retain it for as long as there are business or legal needs.
