Personal Data Protection

  • Thank you for your interest in a career with Nanyang Technological University. Please read this Personal Data Privacy Statement carefully so that you know and understand the purposes for which we collect, use and disclose your personal data.
  • NTU may collect, use, disclose and process your personal data for one or more of the following purpose.
    1. Facilitate the processing of your application for employment
    2. Contacting you or communicating with you
    3. Carry out due diligence or other screening activities (including reference checks) in accordance with legal or regulatory obligations or risk management procedures that may be required by law or put in place by us
    4. Administer the employment relationship (if your application is successful)
    5. Data analysis & reporting
    6. Retain and use the information which you provided in the application for 5 years from the submission date to address any matter which may arise in relation to your application, or to contact you in connection with other employment opportunities

          (Collectively "the Purposes")

  • NTU may also collect information through other sources for processing and evaluating your application for employment.
  • NTU may need to disclose your personal data to third parties, whether located within or outside Singapore, which are engaged by us to process your personal data for one or more of the above Purposes. In this regard, we will maintain the appropriate levels of security and confidentiality.
  • By submitting your application, you consent to the terms stated in this Personal Data Privacy Statement.        


Are you ready to send  us your application?  Listed below is information that may help you organise your application.


Prepare a Cover Letter that includes these:

  • Suitability for the position – Explain how you feel your knowledge, skills and abilities meet the requirements of the position and how you can contribute to NTU’s development;
  • Teaching and Research Interest – Tell us your detailed teaching and research* plans;
  • Scholarship and Awards – Highlight any notable awards for teaching and/or professional contributions to learned and social bodies.
  • Post-doctorate qualifications/experience – Elaborate on your professional experiences and qualifications following your PhD, especially those which are relevant to the position you are applying for.
* Detailed research plan should include information on the number and monetary amount of research grants held by the you at present and in the past, the number of PhD students you have supervised/co-supervised and are supervising/co-supervising, the number of PhD students you have graduated, as well as your citation index.


Complete and include a Personal Particulars Form (Faculty Appointment)


Enclose a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • Personal Particulars – State name, contact details (e-mail address, phone), nationality and date of birth;
  • Education – List degrees received, dates gained, grade of qualification, universities attended;
  • Chronological Employment History – List all academic and non-academic positions held, provide names of organisations, periods of employment and job titles;
  • Teaching Record – Indicate the courses you have taught and the extent of your responsibility for courses preparation. Provision of teaching evaluation results is not obligatory but will certainly strengthen your application;
  • Public and Professional Service – List major invited addresses, fellowship in professional and learned bodies and professional qualifications;
  • Research Grants – State the research grants obtained or sought in the last 3 years. For applications where the outcome was successful, briefly describe the project(s), the progress to date, amount of the award and whether you are the Principal Investigator. It would be helpful to indicate any patents obtained (or sought) resulting from your research. State the number of Masters/PhD students you have successfully supervised and indicate 3 of your publications in the last 5 years which you consider to be the most significant;
  • Referees – Provide the names, addresses, e-mail addresses and fax numbers of 3 referees;
  • Publications – List your publications, grouped according to papers (refereed), papers (non-refereed), books, book chapters and others, including number of pages in bibliographic form (do not send lengthy papers, articles, manuscripts via e-mail attachments unless requested);
  • Portfolio – If you are applying for a position in creative arts/design/media, provide a portfolio of your best visual works on CD-ROM, DVD, Print or Slides. We regret that we are unable to review applications submitted without the supporting visual materials.


How to send application?

Once you are ready, send your completed application (i.e. the cover letter, completed personal particulars form, CV and materials) through email or express/snail mail by the deadline and address indicated in the advertisement, if applicable.

A receipt of acknowledgement of your application will be sent to you.


What Happens Next?

  • Review of applications will begin after the application deadline and will continue until the position is filled. The Search Committee will assess the merits of each application and shortlist applicants for interview.
  • If you are shortlisted, you will be contacted within three months from the date of our acknowledgement. We will also approach your referees to comment on your suitability for appointment. We encourage you to inform your referees that you are disclosing their contact details to NTU and that they may be contacted.
  • If you do not receive a response after three months from the date of our acknowledgement, this will generally mean that your application is not shortlisted.
