Research Engineer (JOB-2018-0092733)

Job Description:
The candidate will work closely with the Executive Director, CYSREN in advancing and disseminating cyber security research projects undertaken at the Centre, including conducting professional training courses on dark-net and cryptocurrencies. It is envisaged that the topics covered will include TOR (The Onion Router), Beneficial Dark Web sites, Illicit Dark Web sites, uses of dark web, Encryption services, Introduction to de-anonymizing TOR and Setting up a device for Dark Web investigations. He/she will also undertake research in the area of dark-net and cryptocurrencies with the aim to develop analytical tools for combatting cybercrime. The candidate must be proficient in developing efficient algorithms that can lead to software tools, which will be validated using real-life data. Candidate will also be responsible for disseminating the work in top publishing forums in computer security and data analytics. He/she shall work collaboratively with other researchers and PhD students in the centre.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual with constant drive to apply his/her multidisciplinary functions involving technical knowledge of all aspects of cyber security, project management and problem solving capabilities.

Job Requirement:

  • The applicant must have a very good Bachelor degree from a reputable university.
  • The applicant should have knowledge in dark-net, cryptocurrencies, and data analytics.
  • Experience in teaching and conducting workshops on relevant subjects is a definite plus.
  • The applicant shall be self-motivated and have strong independent and cooperative working capability.
