In general, the University has three types of research appointments, viz. Research Fellow, Research Associate and Project Officer. The entry qualifications for these appointments are given below:
(a) Research Fellow
Candidates should usually have a PhD degree.
(b) Research Associate
Candidates should have a Masters degree.
(c) Project Officer
Candidates should have a Bachelors degree.
DURATION OF CONTRACTS
The duration of the contract of appointment and the terms of service will depend on the specific appointment offered and the research grant under which they are appointed.
BENEFITS
FLEX-BEN@NTU
All full-time employees are eligible for FlexBen@NTU. Research staff with contract of less than 3 months, are generally excluded from this program.
FlexBen@NTU is a flexible benefits program that allows research staff to have a degree of flexibility (subject to a budget constraint) in selecting the benefits which meet their needs.

Annual Leave
All research staff are entitled to 21 working days of annual leave per calendar year for contracts that are more than 3 months.
Child Care Centre
The University has a Child Care Centre which is conveniently located within the Yunnan Garden Campus. It is set up specially to cater to the needs of staff. Staff members may apply for the enrolment of their children who are between the ages of 3 and 6 years old in the Centre, at the prevailing enrolment fees.
Sports & Recreation Centre
The University has also a Sports & Recreation Centre with a wide range of sports facilities including an Olympic size swimming pool. Staff are eligible to make use of the sports facilities by paying a nominal fee.
WORKING HOURS
The University adopts the 5-Day work week for research staff. The working hours are as follows:
