Project Officer Position in the Translational Science Group

(Duration: 1-year contract, with the possibility of further extension)
One Project Officer position in the Translational Science Group is available at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University. The research group is led by Nanyang Associate Professor Nam-Joon Cho, and consists of an international team that is involved in solving problems in human health. The successful candidate is expected to be highly motivated, hardworking, responsible, and have excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee laboratory management and safety
• Manage laboratory equipment and consumables purchasing
• Provide administrative and operational support
• Update and manage group database
• Prepare and process financial matters

Requirements:
• Excellent oral and written English skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in any field
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Willingness to work in team settings
• Positive attitude
• Interest in youth science education is a plus

The School of Materials Science and Engineering (http://www.mse.ntu.edu.sg/) is seeking to recruit research staff to participate in a multi-disciplinary research programme on biodegradable implants. The programme involves interaction of biologists, chemists, medical doctors, biomedical engineers and materials scientists. There is world-wide interaction among collaborators as part of this programme, with the possibility of exchange visits. Several spin-off companies are anticipated to be formed from this research programme, ensuring continued employment opportunities.

The programme will attract researchers world-wide and the research atmosphere at NTU is diverse and exciting. As MSE faculty are also academic entrepreneurs, there is the possibility of subsequent employment in spin-off companies.

1. Research Fellow in Protein Delivery:

This position requires a Ph.D in Chemistry/ Chemical Engineering/ Biochemistry with emphasis on protein drug delivery. Familiarity with protein characterization is highly desirable. 1-2 years of academic/industrial experience in related areas is ideal.


2. Research Officer/ Project Officer:

Duties will be to support ongoing research teams in the areas of biomaterials characterization and prototype development. A Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science/ Chemistry/ Chemical Engineering/ Biology/ Biomedical Engineering is required.  Prior research experience desirable but not essential.
