Research Assistant

Responsibilities:

• Assists investigator or supervisor with research studies, experiments and assays, and collection of data (basic molecular biology, bacterial assays, animal infection models, bacterial species identification & microscopy).
• Maintains files on research and lab operations i.e. carefully document experimental research procedures performed and assist with laboratory database management.
• Assists with general lab preparedness and maintenance i.e. prepare solutions and reagents, implement supply and equipment ordering procedures, set-up and maintain equipment.
 

Requirements:
• Degree (e.g. B.S.) in Biology or Medical Laboratory Science.
• Previous full-time experience working in a research laboratory and hospital.
• Experience in microbiology, molecular biology, animal infection models, bacteriology, genetics, and/or microscopy.
• Experience carrying out functions such as ordering, interacting with sales representatives, and interfacing with administrative staff are a plus.
• Previous molecular biology experience with clinical microbiology.
• Highly motivated and demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a group.
• Attention to detail, ability to organize time efficiently, and a desire to follow projects to completion.
