Postdoctoral Fellowships 2011
NTU-Rice Institute for Sustainable and Applied Infodynamics (ISAID)’s Neuroscientifically Engineered Parsimonious Embedded Media Lab (NEPEM Lab), under the direction of Prof. Krishna Palem, is seeking to hire a postdoctoral fellow for a two-year position. The fellowship will focus on 1) developing a deeper understanding of the perceptual and neural basis of human audition, and the interaction between visual and auditory sensory systems by psychophysical, electrophysiological experiments and computational modeling; 2) collaborating with engineers to develop neuroscience guided circuitry such as an energy-efficient hearing aid. The fellow will work primarily with Dr. Hong Xu in Psychology and collaborate with Prof. Krishna Palem to develop novel approaches to investigate human vision and audition. Furthermore, the fellow will be expected to work with other colleagues in the same laboratory and with counterparts in ISAID working on the electronic components.
The ideal candidate will have a strong methods background in auditory neuroscience or related fields (e.g., electrophysiology, EEG, fMRI or computational neuroscience) coupled with excellent communication and writing skills. Extensive programming experience in Matlab or C/C++ would constitute an additional advantage. MDs, PhDs, or MD/PhDs are all encouraged to apply. Interested candidates should email Dr. Hong Xu directly, xuhong@ntu.edu.sg , with a cover letter and CV. Qualified candidates will be asked to have 3 letters of reference forwarded to Dr. Xu.
