NEWRI-NTU in collaboration with Chemilink Technologies Group has been awarded Environment Technology Research Programme (ETRP) funding by National Environment Agency for the project titled “Enhanced Biological and Physical Stabilization in Landfills”. We are looking for suitable manpower to support this ETRP project. The requirements are as follows
Research Fellow (RF-A) / Project Officer (PO-A)
1. Research Fellow (RF-A)
Job Scope
• Development of waste management methods associated with landfills and chemical treatments with focus on the liners of landfill which will be formed with waste and recycled materials
• Planning and monitoring laboratory chemical analyses for all relevant materials, leaching potential, and chemical stability from short to long term
• All chemical related works at the pilot plant
• Setting up the pilot plant, and to co-ordinate and monitor the whole testing programme
Requirements
• A recognized PhD Degree in Chemical Engineering or related fields
• Familiar with both organic and inorganic chemistry
• Preferably with about 2 years of relevant research experience and/or industrial background. Experience in TCLP would be advantageous
• Some familiarity with bio-chemical engineering would be an advantage
• Team player with self-motivation and able to work independently
• Strong inclination for applied research and development work
2. Project Officer (PO-A)
Job Scope
• Assisting in the design, planning, execution and co-ordination for the setting up of the pilot plant including plant fabrication, pumping system and membrane materials installation (partially using grouting technique) with focus on the liners of landfill which will be formed with waste and recycled materials.
• Supervision and co-ordination of pilot plant testing process and monitoring testing progress at site including collection of various physical, chemical and biological testing data
Requirements
• A recognized Bachelor/Master Degree (MSc/MEng.) in Mechanical Engineering (preferable) or Civil Engineering or related fields
• Knowledge in concrete / geotechnical experience is preferred
• Knowledge and experience in both mechanical and civil engineering would definitely be an advantage
• Good planning and management skills
• Preferably with about 2 years of relevant industrial experience and/or research background
• Good PR and communication skills
