RESEARCH ASSISTANTS (CONTRACT)
Description:
The Nanyang Business School - Strategy, Management & Organization Division is seeking three research assistants (approximately 20-30 hours/week) to help code archival data from news of U.S. public firms. The project starts immediately this May and will continue for about 3-4 months. Training will be provided. Applicants must have their own laptop. Pay rate: S$7~9/hr.
Primary responsibilities
• Code data of firm top executives and board of directors.
• Data are available from public websites, but an internet connection is needed. Some judgment on the data may be required.
• Report progress on a weekly basis
Qualifications:
• Proficiency in English is required.
• Very organized, attention to details, and ability to work independently and efficiently with limited supervision on assigned tasks.
• Basic familiarity with finance and accounting is preferred. For example, basic familiarity with firm’s annual reports, and financial statements. A major, degree, or some background in business might be helpful but not required.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.

Primary responsibilities
• Code data of the actions that firms take, such as forming technical alliances, or forming marketing and distribution alliances, etc. Coding categories will be provided.
• All the news is already downloaded and ready to be coded in Excel. Some judgment on data will be required.
• Report progress on a weekly basis
Qualifications:
• Proficiency in English is required.
• A major in business is preferred but not required.
• Very organized, attention to details, and ability to work independently and efficiently with limited supervision on assigned tasks.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel helps.
