Job Title: Post-doctoral fellows in theoretical physics
Job Description
We have two openings for post-doctoral fellows in theoretical physics, one in the field of Physical Biology, the other in Quantum Cosmology. Their work should be integral parts of ongoing projects, which are under the direction of Professor Kerson Huang (Emeritus Professor of Physics, MIT and Nanyang Professor, NTU).
Physical Biology refers to applying physics to molecular biology, including but not confined to the CSAW model of protein folding. [arXiv:1002.5013 (2009)] There is collaboration with Tsinghua University, Beijing, and the postdoc may be required to spend some time overseas.
For Quantum Cosmology, ongoing projects center on scalar-field cosmology, including but not confined to inflation and gravitational collapse. [arXiv: 1011.4012 (2010)]
Requirements
We seek Ph.D.’s in theoretical physics conversant with computer programming.
For the post on Physical Biology, the candidates should have solid background in statistical mechanics, and knowledge of biochemistry.
For the post on Quantum Cosmology, the candidates should have solid working knowledge of quantum field theory and/or condensed matter theory, and acquaintance with general relativity.
Remuneration & Benefits
Successful candidates can expect competitive salary and benefits.
Term of Appointment
The appointments are for two years, commencing in August 2011.
