High Performance Computing (HPC) Initiative 

Research Engineer/Scientist (Application Support Team)

NTU has recently launched an initiative to set up a state-of-the-art High Performance Computing  (HPC) Initiative facility to support the computing needs of NTU’s research community.  The systems to be acquired include a large cluster with high-speed inter-node connection, a SMP system and a large storage farm. There are several openings for HPC research engineer/scientist. Successful candidates will join the Application Support Team of the HPC Initiative.

  Requirements:

·         Recognised PhD/Master/Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Sciences or its equivalent with at least 3 years’ experience in the use and development of commercial/open-sources packages in engineering, scientific or business HPC applications

·         Good communication skills to interact with faculty members and researchers

·         Experience in parallel programming (OpenMP and MPI) and providing support for parallel high computing applications

·         Research experience in scientific/engineering packages in Life Science, CFG, Visualisation, modelling and other areas in Science and Engineering is preferred.

  Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Play primary role in promoting HPC facilities to the NTU’s research community (conduct training workshops and prepare user guides on application software packages)

·         Evaluation and acquisition of HPC application packages and provide on-going maintenance and support (including liaising with System Support Team and software vendors to troubleshoot and performance tuning)

·         Assist faculty members and researchers in the usage of the HPC systems to meet  research  objectives.

 

Entry level and starting salaries will depend on candidate’s qualification and experience.
