IT Executive
 

 

Reporting to the Principal IT Manager, you will provide technical, software support service to all staff and students of the School.  Your duties include setting up, troubleshooting and maintaining computers and printers, providing backup support for the school's labs and E-learning, performing loan counter duties, tracking of assets, software and small value items purchased or loaned and any other related dutieis assigned by your supervisor.  

 
Requirements: 
  • Polytechnic Diploma in IT

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, Windows XP Professional, Windows VIsta, Softricity, Mac OS X, Mcafee Antivirus, and software installation, PC/printer setup, setup of handheld devices to send/receive emails

    IT Executive (IT Operations)

      

    You will provide technical/IT support to the School which includes helpdesk support; analyse, propose and implement IT soluctions; setup, maintain and administer PCs, workstations and servers running Windors as well as to source and purchase IT equipment and oversee the facilities management of IT labs.  You will also be involved in project planning/control, budgeting, tender and contract management; and management of outsourced projects and vendors to ensure that projects are completed successfully on schedule and within budget.  

    Requirements: 

  • Polytechnic diploma in Engineering, Computer Science or IT
  • At least 2 years of working experience in maintaining and upgrading computer systems operating under Windows
  • Ability to perform sofrware and hardware testing
  • Tactful and has ability to render good customer service

    School of Computer Engineering
    Laboratory Executive (2 positions)

     

    Position 1  

    You will assist to support the installation and maintenance of workstations and servers running under Windows and Unix/Linux, and design and maintain the Centre's website.  This position will provide you the chance to work with faculty staff and students on reseach projects and course-related activities as well as to assist in the procurement of equipment and software.  You will also be required to maintain and update the Laboratory Inventory Control System (LICS) and perform housekeeping activities to maintain tidiness of the Centre

    Requirements: 

  • Polytechnic diploma in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or any IT-related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in maintaining Windows platforms and/or Unix/Linux clusters
  • Knowledge of Windors and Unix/Linux software and web design tools is preferred
  •  

     

    Position 2 

    You will have the opportunity to manage the day-to-day operations of the Centre which includes the installation and maintenance of workstations and servers running under Windows and Unix/Linux, desgn and maintain the Centre's website as well as manage its assets and budget. This position will also provide you the chance to work with faculty staff and students on research projects and course-related activities as well as to assist in the procurement of equipment and software

    Requirements: 

  • Polytechnic diploma in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or any IT-related discipline
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably with knowledge in LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).  Fresh graduate may also apply
  • Good troubleshooting skills and possess logical thinking

    School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences
    Laboratory Executive
      

      

    You will work on procurement activities covering technical specifications as well as maintain the laboratory experiment and inventory.  You will also assist in detailed planning of teaching and research laboratories, preparation of lab user manuals, conduct applicable preventive and corrective maintenance as well as procedures in the laboratories including storage, handling and disposal of chemicals and consumables and ensure conformance to godd quality procedures. You will help to maintain the chemical store and all ncessary bookkeping of the store.  You will also perform other duties as assigned. 

    Requirements: 

  • Good polytechnic diploma in Chemistry or related discipline

    IT Analyst
      

      

    You will develop and maintain ASPNet web-based and Windows-based applications, databases and websites, design and maintain the School and Divisions websites on Sharepoint and Dreamweaver.  You will also provide technical, hardware and software support service for teaching and research labs as well as staff and students of SPMS.  In addition, you will support and manage the School network infrastructure. 

    Requirements: 

  • At leastt a Polytechnic Diploma with working experience with MS Window Server 2003, LINUX OS, HTML, Dreamerweaver, Flash, Photoshop, ASP.Net, PHP, MS SQL. MS Reporting Services and IIS
  • Computer hardware knowledge is essential
  • Working knowlege of Excel Programming, Ajax, Microsoft expression are advantageous
  • Must be technically inclined
  • Able to work independently and possess good communication skills

    Laboratory Officer

     

    You will be responsible for research equipment installation, operation and maintenance.  You will also keep track of all assets and assist in purchasing for the division and perform any other taks assigned by Head of Division. 

    Requirements: 

  • Polytechnic Diploma in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Aerospace Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of database/spreadsheet would be preferred
  • Self-motivated, reliable and able to work with minimal supervision

    Laboratory Manager 

      

    You will oversee the overall operations of the research laboratory activities - ensure efficient laboratory operations by managing equipment maintenance and repair schedules; maintain and enforce laboratory policies and procedures that are compliant with fire and hazardous materials (biological, chemical and environment) safety regulations from the relevant authorities.  You will be responsible for the laboratory budgetary processes relating to the projection, equipment and consumables needs and provide technical expertise to research staff and students on complex, non-standardised experimental setups/procedures.  You will also undertake the facilitation/instruction of Undergraduate and Graduate Lab-based of E-learning courses and participate in ongoing research activities of the School. 

    Requirements: 

  • PhD or Master degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering or Chemistry
  • Knowledge in broadly defined areas of biomaterials, inorganic materials, organic materials, materials processing and vacuum systems

    Photography Studio Executive
     

      

    You will work under the direct supervision of the Chair or relevant Head of Division or Area coordinator.  Your duties include providing administrative and technical support in the Wet PhotographyLab, Digital Darkroom and Photography Studio such as management and training of students/student lab assistants on chemical preparation, use of cameras, film development, computers and software applications.  You will ensure all photography lab equipment and supplies are in proper working condition by maintaining and repairing photographic and darkroom equipment and various scanning devices.  You will format and perform electronic delivery of images and calibrate monitors for use in appropriate hardware and software.  In addition, you will also implement and execute safety guidelines on the use of equipment and photographic chemistry, oversee asset and inventory management. 

    Requirements: 

  • Polytechnic diploma
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop (preferably CS or CS2) and principles of digital scanning and printing in a Macintosh production environment
  • Possess strong skill levels in the broad practices of analogue and digital photography including proficiency as related to professional imaging, digital editing, and output and asset management
  • Experience in both traditional and non-traditional photographic processes and techniques which may include black and white and colour phtotographic materials, medium and large format cameras, digital scanning and printing, as well as with various aspects of phtographic and film studio lighting
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative environment and have a track record of technical support and management of photographic labs and studio, and thorough knowledge of photographic darkroom procedures

    Professional Officer (Tribology)
     

     

    The School is seeking for a suitably qualified candidate to join its Tribology Laboratory as Professional Officer.  The candidate will assist to set up and plan future developments of the lab and conduct research in fields related to tribology.  In addition to maintaining existing lab facilities in good operating conditions, he will be expected to design and develop tribology related facilities in meeting specific requirements of users pertaining to teaching and research, as well as design lab experiments and projects.

     
    Requirements: 
  • A PhD degree in Tribology and/or Surface Science and Engineering
  • Research and Development (R&D) experience in tribological systems and hand-on skills in tribology-related instrumentations is desired

    Laboratory Manager (MEMS)
      

    The School is seeking for a suitably qualified candidate to join its MEMS laboratory, a facility dedicated to highly innovative research in the fields of sensors, MEMS, biochips and nanotechnology, with state-of-the-art process facilities and equipment for silicon wafers in a 400m2 cleanroom environment. Besides managing the overall operation of the cleanroom laboratory, the candidate would be expected to enhance and develop research capabilities of the facility to further support research initiatives and needs of users.

     
    Requirements: 
  • A Master or PhD Degree in a related field
  • At least 5 years of silicon wafer cleanroom experience and expertise in dealing with toxic/hazardous gases and chemicals

  • Polytechnic diploma in Electronics Engineering and with life-science knowledge (e.g as a minor in one subject at Poly or from work experience, to demonstrate his/her interest in biomedical engineering) or related discipline
