Workplace Health and Safety Officer/Manager (2-year contract)

Responsibilities

·        
Communicate safety policies, procedures and legal requirement to School and Departments. Advise the school/department in Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) matter.
·         Ensure policies and practices are effectively implemented.
·         Report identified hazards and suggests appropriate risk control measures. 
·         Conduct workplace safety audits and inspections to identify workplace risks, unsafe workplace conditions and work practices.
·         Work with the WSH committee in implementing Safety Management System.
·         Assist in identifying appropriate training programs in WSH for staff & students.
·         Conduct the safety training to all staff & students (including the induction for new staff).
·         Promote safety awareness amongst faculty, staff and students.
·         Promote timely reporting of accidents and incidents reporting and ensure investigations are taken to determine the root cause and to prevent recurrence.
·         Liaising with regulators on safety and health related issue.
·         Performing other duties/projects delegated by Chief Health and Safety Officer

Requirements

·         A recognized degree in Science, Engineering or Bio-medical discipline.
·         Preferably at least 2 years working experience in Workplace Safety and Health in Singapore.
·         Singapore WSHO is preferred; other internationally recognized certification eg CIH or CSP can be considered. 
·         Preferred, candidates with certificates in First Aid, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
·         Registered Fire Safety Manager with Singapore Civil Defence Force.
·         Knowledge in chemical, radiation and biological fields is advantageous.
·         Effective communication skills including verbal presentation, technical writing skills.
·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

As a key administrator of the School, the Manager & PA to Chair assists the School Chair in formulating and implementing processes and procedures for the effective functioning of the School; ensuring a smooth day-to-day operation of the Chair’s office; preparation of policy papers, reports, contracts and agreements, and any other documents, and organising of events such as visits, seminars, conferences and workshops.

Responsibilities

Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching

Senior Assistant Director (Pedagogical Practice)

Responsibilities

This position requires the development and delivery of high quality learning and teaching development activities for faculty at NTU at all levels of experience. This includes the development and facilitation of a range of workshops and seminars, the production of materials, training in the use of technology, and one-to-one consultations with faculty. It requires a good knowledge of current best practice in learning and teaching, particularly in relation to the use of educational technology.  The person filling this position should have experience of faculty development at university level within a student-centred framework, and an understanding of problem-based learning, team-based learning and interactive small-group learning. A background in higher education teaching would be considered beneficial.

The position requires the ability to be a member of a small team working together to provide a coordinated approach to the support of NTU’s quality learning and teaching.  Duties include:

      Design and delivery of programmes of learning and teaching workshops and other activities for faculty at different levels of experience and for graduate teaching assistants, particularly in relation to the use of educational technology and new collaborative learning spaces

      Evaluation of technology-based approaches to learning and teaching including evaluation of the effectiveness of strategies using educational technology

      Promotion to faculty of pedagogical rationale and strategies for using the various learning and teaching tools deployed by NTU including clickers and Blackboard (edveNTUre)

      Development and maintenance of learning and teaching website

      Administrative support for NTU’s eLearning Week and other events such as seminars and conferences

      Collection and dissemination of data on effective teaching strategies


Requirements

The NTU Development Office is seeking a dynamic and committed individual to manage the phonathon programme of the University. The candidate will lead a team of 80-100 students to engage alumni, parents and community individuals for donations. The key responsibilities of the candidate are to recruit, train, instruct, supervise and motivate student callers, giving them the proper support and guidance to excel in telephone fundraising and exceed their set targets.

Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine/Interactive Media Institute Collaboration

Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCSoM) - a joint medical school by Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University, and the Interactive Media Institute (IMI) are searching for a Project Manager to drive the development of a highly innovative and interactive 3D simulation to support medical student training in the study of human anatomy. The initial development will focus on articulation, with specific focus on the lower limb.  Subsequent developments will build on this work.

Reporting to the Director of eLearning, you will be required to support the Blended Learning programmes with a mandate to design and develop media and web-enhanced instructional materials and courseware, provide support to academic staff in the use of online applications in course development and management as well as to facilitate innovative approaches in online teaching and learning. Manager/Assistant Director, Faculty Development

Responsibilities

This is a new post which has been created to support the development, management and facilitation of training activities in relation to the ‘Train the Trainers’ medical education programme. This training programme is being set up to ensure that local trainers are available who can run the varying workshops and training programmes so that Faculty recruited to the LKCSoM are fully appraised of an appropriate range of teaching/educational skills in order to successfully deliver the curriculum. The post holder will be supervised and required to work quite closely with the Principal Teaching Fellow in Medical Education at LKCSoM / Imperial College.  As a key member of the office team in the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, the post holder will be required to work in a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural environment.

· Assist in the development, management and facilitation of a specific set of training activities and web based activities, in relation to the ‘Train the Trainers’ medical education programme.

· Facilitate and support polyclinic medical staff to enable them to deliver first class Clinical Methods training to LKCSoM students in the polyclinics.

· Deliver presentations in relation to team based learning (and some problem based learning) in lecture/ workshop/ tutorial style context at NTU, the key hospitals and also the polyclinics to multi professional healthcare staff.

· Assist in the management and delivery of an educational appraisal tool that is to be implemented across the clinical arenas of student educational engagement.

· Assist in a professional, sensitive and pro active manner, via formal and informal channels of communication, the ongoing dialogue between the clinicians and the School to ensure educational/professional needs are identified and timely and appropriate feedback is given and initiatives developed as required.

· Assist in establishing the various educational and administrative LKCSoM committees’ systems and structures.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Infrastructure and Resources, you will be responsible for the workplace health and safety, as well as the emergency system and security plans of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. You will lead a team to plan, develop, coordinate and administer the workplace safety, occupational health, security and emergency system.

·         Plan, develop, coordinate and administer an effective workplace safety and occupational health system for the wellbeing of faculty, employees, students and collaborators, which should include the continual surveillance of possible exposure to hazardous substances in the School or in other related facilities associated with the School.
·         Liaise with NTU’s Office of Health and Safety on all workplace safety and health issues, as well as the relevant departments on emergency and security issues.
·         Oversee the development and implementation of routine programs and risk management programs & policies.
·         Develop and implement effective emergency response procedures including accidental release of hazardous and biohazard agents and materials.
·         Investigate, handle, report and liaise with relevant parties on any incident/accident, occupational disease, violation of workplace safety’ rules and regulations or any other acts that may endanger the safety/health of the staff and students.
·         Ensure that the workplace processes, including the use of materials and equipment, comply with all governmental and accreditation agency requirements (e.g. MOM, MOH, AVA, SCDF or NEA) and are in line with best practices in similar leading institutions.

Laboratory Manager

Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine invites applications for Laboratory Manager Appointment.

The School is developing an innovative five-year undergraduate course in Medicine that will produce the doctors of tomorrow for Singapore. The research strategy of the School builds on existing competencies at Nanyang Technological University and clinical opportunities at our healthcare partners, as well as areas of mutual interest between Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University, with the aim to bridge research in medicine and engineering.

Job Description

You will manage and support the development of a cluster of laboratories at the School. You will be expected to perform administrative duties, supervise the daily operation and maintenance of the research laboratories which include a combination of administration, equipment maintenance, ordering, immediate supervision/training of new/junior personnel and ensuring that safety guidelines are followed.

The successful applicant is also expected to undertake research duties and is required to have experience in molecular biology (DNA, RNA preparation, PCR, genotyping etc.)  and cell biology (Western blotting, cell culture, immunocytochemistry, ELISA), and histology. Some knowledge and experience involving preclinical models of disease (mouse husbandry, primary cell culture) would be advantageous.

Lab Management Responsibilities

NTU-Rice Institute of Sustainable and Applied Infodynamics (ISAID)

Institute Executive Manager

The NTU-Rice Institute for Sustainable and Applied Infodynamics (ISAID), is seeking to hire an executive manager. The initial contract is for two years and upon one year of successful performance, can be extended for longer contract duration.

The manager will be expected to plan, coordinate and grow the various projects and laboratories in the institute.  An ideal candidate should have an advanced technical background including but not limited to post-graduate degrees in information and electrical engineering technologies, and several (two being a minimum) years of managerial experience. Particular experience in projects involving an international dimension with multi-national teams and collaborations will be very desirable. Significantly, the manager will have the opportunity of growing new initiatives driven by individual investigators from within the institute, and help such investigators acquire funding from external governmental sources and industry.

As a working example, the manager will play an important role in managing the electronic note pad or slate projects such as the I-Slate which involves a collaboration between teams in Singapore, the US and India. In this project, the manager will be identifying and contracting design teams spanning hardware and software issues through third-party vendors, working with these vendors on communicating design goals and specifications and making sure that a spec-compliant I-Slate is delivered. Additionally, the manger will coordinate the field testing from Singapore—currently being pursued in India with other countries in the region being considered actively.

 

The following items will be highly valuable for such a position:

- Minimum of seven years of experience after an undergraduate degree in the information and/or electrical engineering
  disciplines.
- Some of these seven years of experience could include post-graduate education.
- A minimum of two years of experience in managing information technology related R&D programs or projects.
- Experience in working with collaborators overseas including international travel and residence.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.

The Manager of MBA Alumni Relations will be responsible for the planning and implementation of programmes and projects that engage alumni with the objective of strengthening the Nanyang MBA and providing tangible benefits to alumni and current students.

Assist in setting up of all SCELSE laboratories in the first 2 years. Managing research staff and students to ensure that the laboratory environment is kept in line with good laboratory practice standards. This is a senior position in Financial Services, supervising a team of finance professionals and associates.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for managing the varied and integrated process in the university’s staff benefits and related financial transactions in line with the international stature of the University.
