Faculty Positions at Assistant / Associate Professor Level
The Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University, attracts students who are among the very best from Singapore’s competitive educational system, and is committed to a collegial environment that brings out the best in teaching and research.
The School anticipates having nine tenure-track faculty positions for the 2010 academic year at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the following areas:
- Advertising and Marketing Communications:
Preferred areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, advertising strategy and management, integrated marketing communications, communication campaigns, global branding, and international and cross-cultural advertising.
- Health Communication and Promotion:
Preferred areas of expertise include public health, health regulation and literacy, nutrition and drug labeling, health promotion and advertising, social marketing, health technology and health campaigns.
Candidates must have a graduate degree, preferably a PhD, and professional or teaching experience, with an active programme of research. The successful candidate is expected to teach at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels, and provide student supervision and mentorship.
- Journalism Studies (3 posts):
Research focus should engage current debates on any aspect of the relationship between journalism and politics, economics, culture, society and technology, particularly in Asia. Preference will be given to applicants who can teach any of the following: copy editing; photojournalism; multimedia journalism; specialised reporting in business or health or technology.
Candidates must have a PhD degree and are actively involved in researching journalism as a subject of scholarly inquiry and in teaching journalism as a professional practice.
Preferred areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, visual communication, visual literacy, visual culture, visual narratives and photojournalism. Preference will be given to candidates with an Asian focus in research and with industry experience.
Candidates must have a PhD degree, and an active programme of research. Ability to teach single camera video production is an asset. Supervision of undergraduate and graduate thesis projects is expected.
- Library & Information Service:
Preferred areas of expertise are information organization, reference/information service and health/ medical information service.
Candidates must have a PhD degree in library and information science or related area, and have an active programme of research. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 2 years professional experience in a library or information service.
Preferred areas of expertise include knowledge sharing, communities of practice, storytelling, knowledge assets and social network analysis.
Candidates must have a PhD degree and an active programme of research in knowledge management.
- Medical Informatics or Records Management:
Preferred areas of expertise include electronic medical records, health information systems, enterprise records management and digital preservation.
Candidates must have a PhD degree, and an active programme of research in medical informatics or records management.
