Faculty Appointments in Environmental & Water Resources Engineering 

The Division of Environmental and Water Resources Engineering invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at Assistant/Associate Professor levels in the following areas:

  • Urban Hydro-environmental Engineering

Candidates must have PhD degree in water resources or hydro-environmental engineering, or a related field and possess a proven record of excellence in research. The faculty member will be responsible for implementing an extensive and research programme aimed at reducing climate and extreme-weather risks in urban areas. He/she will conduct research on the impact of climate variability and climate change on urban storm water management, real-time flood forecasting, design and operational considerations of water distribution networks, and integrated modeling of urban development and environmental pollution. Examples of research areas of interest include, but are not limited to: climate change impact assessment, storm water drainage and flood risk management, sustainable ecosystems analysis, water quality modeling in water distribution networks, urban water supply-demand analysis, environmental process engineering or green environmental infrastructure. In particular, expert knowledge and R&D track records in hydrometeorology, critical urban water systems, and water-related sustainability issues in urban environments are desirable. Experience with application of remote sensing data and GIS in water resource systems analysis will be an advantage. The successful candidate must be capable of attracting research funding in the relevant research areas, and have an ability to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in water resources and urban hydrology.
