Q: Why is NEC expensive?
NEC is a self financing centre and needs to generate operating surplus i.e. revenue must exceed expense. NEC rental rates are competitive and generally lower than commercial properties.
Q: Why has the discount been reduced?
Due to rising cost of labor, contractors and materials. Needs to generate higher revenue due to higher expenses.
Q: Why do we need to use NEC appointed caterers?
Due to (1) consistent service , food display and food quantity & quality (2) audit advise to shortlist caterers through formal tender system, (3) operational control as external caterers do not know or conform to NEC SOP.
Q: Why the significant difference in rates between the junior suite and the executive suite?
Due to area size.
Q: What is your discount structure like?
Please contact Sales & Marketing (S & M) or reservation department.
Q: Why can’t external FITs (or Frequent Individual Traveller) be allowed to reserve rooms but external groups are?
We prefer to deal with corporate groups who have dealings with NTU. If FITs are able to obtain a reference from any NTU entity or staff, we shall be pleased to host.
Q: Will you give more discount if I take more rooms/room nights?
Yes, depend on the business volume on case to case basis.
Q: Will you be adding more rooms?
No, 170 is maximum with rooms and suites.
Q: Why are there so little family rooms?
NEC is meant mainly for executive training. The family suites are used to support SQ.
Q: How come there is no vegetarian or Halal food available at NEC?
NEC’s caterers are able to provide vegetarian or halal food. Mayflower is unable at the moment.
Q: What is your most popular room type?
Single and Twin rooms.
Q: When is your peak period?
From post CNY around March to Nov each year.
Q: I want to reserve a room, but I do not have Credit Card. What should you do?
Ask NTU school or NTU staff to act as guarantor.
Q: Does NEC guestrooms have high-speed internet access?
Normal internet speed.
Q: What are the taxes on rooms?
We pay 10% property tax to IRAS .
Q: Is there a difference between Twin Sharing Room and Executive Deluxe (ED) Room?
Twin room provides 2 separate single beds while ED rooms provides a Queen size bed with better furnishings.
Q: Is it possible to specify a view when making a reservation?
Yes, subject to availibilty.
Q: How can I be sure that my Credit Card information is secure?
We ride on NTU Finance‘s security system.
Q: Do you offer any special rates/ off-peak rates?
Yes, depending on business volume and on case to case basis.
Q: Aside from the room charges, are there any additional charges?
10% service charge and 7 % GST for non NTU entities.
Q: How long can we hold the rooms without cancellation charges?
For groups, 2 months and FIT, 5 working days.
Q: Are there any different cancellation charges between group bookings and individual bookings?
1 night room charge on the total rooms.
Q: Do you arrange transportation for the guests from airport-NEC-airport?
Yes , upon request with event organizer paying full.
Q: Can NEC make arrangement for booking of bus to Malaysia (Eg: KL, JB, etc.....)??
Yes, upon advance request and with event organizer paying.
Q: Are all NTU Schools/Offices getting same discount for group booking?
Depends on the business volume.
Q: Does NEC conduct courses for groups?
No, but we can recommend.
Q: Does NEC provide Event Planning Service?
No, but we can engage CCE (or Centre for Continuing Education).
Q: What is the parking charges and number of lots available?
There are car parks lots and it is free parking for now.
Q: Is there loyalty customer discount for frequent user?
We offer corporate rates for preferred customer.
Q: Is there an annual promotion during off peak period for non NTU entity ?
No, as we do not actively market NEC to external parties.
Q: For events at NEC, can we arrange our own food caterer?
Only under special consideration whereby NEC caterers cannot support.
Q: Does NEC provide shuttle service to Boon Lay MRT Station?
No , but it can be arranged on payable basis.
Q: Is money exchange service available at NEC?
No, but at Mayflower located at the staff club nearby.
Q: Can I have a look at the rooms before booking ?
Yes, but please call in advance to make an appointment.
Q: Can NEC provide long stay 1 month to 1 year ?
Yes, we offer both short term and long term stay.
Q: How much is the discount rate for the long term stay guests?
Please check with Reservation department.
Q: How much is the taxi fare from NEC to Airport/ Down Town?
About $30 to airport and $20 to downtown.
Q: What is the menu for the breakfast?
For $10, Mayflower offers juice, coffee or tea and egg, sausages.
