Scholarly Communication Group

Scholarly communication is a series of interrelated activities involving the initiation, creation, acceptance, dissemination, recognition and use of the records of research findings and scholarly works.

The Scholarly Communication Group (SCG) facilitates the process of creating, archiving, disseminating and promoting scholarly output of staff and students by

1.  
 

Providing services, resources and tools which support the creation of scholarly works by the university community.

2. Facilitating the engagement of the university community in scholarly communication.
3. 
  

Collecting the intellectual output of the university with the aim of preserving them for future reference and use.

To this end, SCG also partners with departments within the University to establish and implement programmes that support the scholarly communication process. 

Programmes and services that support the scholarly communication efforts of staff and students are delivered by :

Instructional Services
This Division provides campus-wide library instructional programmes to empower staff and students with the necessary information literacy and research skills for their study, research, teaching and work.

Institutional Repository
This unit coordinates and administers all work relating to the archiving, dissemination and promotion of the intellectual output of the university community. Specifically it manages the University’s institutional repository, DR-NTU.

Scholarly Communication
This function strategizes, plans and implements programmes that promote the engagement and participation of academic staff and research in scholarly communication.
