About Myself :
I was a library consultant for 4 years before I joined NTU in April 2004. I worked on a number of projects, including library set up, records management, legal deposit, digital preservation and conducted a number of workshops for teachers in management of school libraries. Before forming my own company, I was Principal Lecturer and Head of the Division of Information Studies at Temasek Polytechnic, where I set up the new diploma courses in information studies and library studies. Prior to that, I was the Chief Librarian of the Singapore Command and Staff College and the SAFTI Military Institute. I started my career as a librarian at the National University of Singapore Library and was involved in a variety of work, including library automation, engineering and architecture reference services, online searching, circulation, etc. Librarianship is my second career. I started my working life as a mechanical engineer and had worked briefly in a steel mill and a factory. I served as the President of the Library Association of Singapore from 1997 to 2005 and also as Board member of the National Library Board for 6 years until 2003. Currently I am the Chairman of the National Committee of Library and Knowledge Professionals in Singapore (NCLIPKS) and a member of the Executive Board of the Congress of Southeast Asian Librarians.
