Subject librarian responsibilities :

David is the Engineering librarian for School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE), looking after the needs of the two divisions: Division of Information and Communication Engineering. David works closely with his fellow EEE Engineering librarian, Ms Padma.

  1. Develop library collection so that users can obtain relevant books for their coursework and research.
     
  2. Maintain e-resources so that users can use the e-resources effectively.
     
  3. Conduct instructional classes so that users become skilled and proficiency in searching information.
     
  4. Promote library activities and events so that user make full use of library facilities and services for study and research purposes.
     
  5. Provide reference services to the school so that users are able to find research materials for coursework and projects.
     

Operational Responsibilities :

David is the acquisitions librarian in Acquisitions Division. David takes care of the maintenance of the electronic books and audio visual materials. He is also in charge of the student assistant administration and maintenance of computers & equipments in the division.

  1. Maintain and administer access to electronic books so that users can use them digitally and remotely.
     
  2. Oversee the acquisition of media resources so that media materials are available for coursework and research.
     
  3. Manage the administration and recruitment of student assistants in the acquisitions division.
     
  4. Assist in the review of library building security, emergency and plan appropriate measures to ensure that the library is a safe environment to study and work.
     

Work Experience :

David joined one of the National Library Board (NLB) branches as a Cyberguide-Internet (part-time) during his university days in 1995. Later, he joined NLB as an Assistant Library Officer (part-time) in 1997. David joined NTU Library as an Acquisitions Librarian in 1999 while pursuing a Master of Science in Information Studies (2000-2002). He currently worked as Senior Acquisitions Librarian and Engineering Librarian at NTU Library.
